Translate Tab App Reviews

Perfect replacement for Google Translate website

Simple, very effective app. Well worth the price. Also, if you use Popclip (another awesome utility), they have an extension for Translate Tab that makes it very easy to highlight text and with one click have Translate Tab translate it for you. These two, together, are very effective. Thanks for the work….!

Useless App

I am use to an app that automatically translates web pages when opening, this app does not do that nor does it let you copy and paste text from webpages… USELESS RIPOFF!

A boon for expats!

I use this app every day with PopClip from Pilot Moon. This combination allows me to select and translate text quickly. As an American transplant to the Netherlands, this workflow is worth its weight in gold to me. Thanks!

Not that great

I like it how its better than just using the browser version and having to keep switching windows everytime I translate. However there are more thing I dont like about it than things that I do. One thing is how it dissapears every time I click somewhere elso to type what was translated. Also, how I am not able to move or resize the window. And was also dissaointed when I realized it does not look like the one shown above. Why would you even show it? Hopefully they will change all of this with time.

Fast, seemingly accurate, and has voice

I like how fast this app is (I use it to translate from English to German and vice-versa). It is a very nice compliment to my Collins Dictionary app because Collins does not handle phrases. I wish I could set it to remain on the screen (I am on a Mac running OS X 10.9). Whenever I click on a different application, Translate Tab loses „focus“ (isn’t that how the geeks say it?) and goes away. This wouldn’t be such a big deal if I could get a combination of shortcut keys to work, but, alas, either my Mac won’t let that happen or Translate Tab has a bug.

Really good app

First, I’ve never had it crash, which is always a plus. It provides more accurate translation than most other apps I’ve seen, especially for Spanish. I really like the different translation options for the same word in different Spanish-speaking countries. The voice is really helpful too.

Cann’t Download

Purchased the app through the Apple Store, downloaded it and tried to run the program. Nothing happened! Deleted program and re downloaded it 2 more times with the same result.

Moving issue

I like the app but I have an annoying problem which is that when I’m in the middile of writing a word, the window is moving and I can’t focus on what I’m writing. It moves quickly (right and left) untill I stop writing. Is there anybody else having this problem? Or is it some kinda feature that the app uses?

I LOVE THIS APP....Its a Major Time-Saver!

I LOVE THIS APP! I was skeptical of this, since there are so many free translating apps out there….but you get what you pay for, and this is BY FAR the best translation tool out there (it basically give you the power of Google Translate as a "widget" for the Mac that’s always there and always ready without needing to open a browser….it just sits quietly in the upper right menu bar (near the clock and Spotlight Search) until it’s needed. When I need to translate something for work (which is MANY times per day, since I work at a Spanish language TV and radio broadcasting company, but my Spanish is not perfect), the Translate Tab is always available....I dont need to leave the program Im using (Word, PowerPoint, my browser, etc.)....I just select the text I want translated, copy it, click the icon in the upper menu bar, and paste the text into a nice, easy to use translate pane that pulls down in the upper right corner of the screen. Previously, I had have to open or switch to my browser, call up Google Translate, and translate the text that way, but this saves me about 30-60 seconds each time I use it (sometimes more), and because I use it 30-40 times a day, it ends up saving me a LOT of time!). SECRET TIP: I just realized last week that you can right-click on your selected text in most programs (but MS Word), and the menu that shows up now includes a new menu item from Translate Tab….it asks whether you want to "Translate selection using Translate Tab”….if you pick that, and you dont even need to cut & paste….it pulls down the Translate Tab widget automatically, and by the time you glance up to the upper right corner of the screen, the text is already translated! A great simple app, and WELL WORTH the money!

Need icons for retina screen

Please update icons to support retina screen. Right now it looks not very good.

Works perfectly fine

All I need is already there, its intuitive, and works flawlessly

It’s really convenient, but...

The one thing that would bring it to 5 stars would be saving the text in there. I often use it to keep track of words I want to remember in other languages, but whenever I restart my computer, it wipes the words from the app. Not too big of a deal, but it would be really nice if it saved.

Very handy

Very handy little app. It does what it promises.

Works now…but awful.

Used to work great. In fact…I used it for a long, long time. Then it completely stopped working…entirely. I updated the app…nothing. Zero. Zip. Extremely frustrating as I need to translate things constantly, and it used to work great. Companies who make changes that completely wreck the functionality of their software/apps/etc, should be fined and prohibited from putting more trash out there. UPDATE: Works now but is as bad as ever. The translations are usually fine, but the app jumps all over the place for no apparent reason. Clearly, the developers had something in mind, but I don’t know what the heck they were thinking. Any chance you can make the freakin’ thing sit still? Seems like it would be an easy fix. As for now, it’s still mostly unuseable. It jumps around, takes me out of apps, just all in all a super frustrating experience. I don’t understand why I can’t just open the app and type with the app sitting still and not moving on it’s own?! Is that really too much to ask? I don’t remember if this thing has a cost, but if it does, DON’T BUY. The developers keep making it worse and worse.
